Here’s a little bit of history that I think you will like…
From December 25, 1941 until April 1, 1946 … more than 6 million servicemen and women who traveled through Nebraska during World War II fondly remember the hospitality of the North Platte Canteen where every troop train was met by volunteers who prepared and served sandwiches, coffee, cookies, cakes, and other homemade ‘goodies’ during stops there. |
This freedom that so few seem to appreciate today, and is so taken for granted, was paid for by the blood, sweat, and tears of a lot of good people.
Let us not forget the awesome price that was paid for our liberty, and let us not forget to pray for and support our men and women in uniform, who are today in harm’s way fighting for country! God bless America… Skip Barland |
