The Lord Is Our Shepherd…

Dear Jeanette,

Let’s get our heads on right, first thing in the morning every morning, for the battle ahead.

The Enemy (Satan) doesn’t want us to know this, but we have already won this battle, through Christ Jesus our Lord.

The real battle of our faith is tested and dependent, not upon our strength, but it is dependent upon the strength of He who watches over us – 24/7 365.

It’s not what we feel that determines the outcome of the battle, but ALL is based on the reliability and trustworthiness of both God and His Word, which He promises will NOT return to Him void, without accomplishing the purpose wherein He has sent it.

Joshua 1:9

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

In fact the Bible tells us clearly that the battle that we are facing belongs to Jesus.

David portrayed God as a caring shepherd. This shepherd protected His sheep from harm.

Likewise Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and anything that comes to attack us must first go through Him, because the safety and care of His sheep is His responsibility.

Although we may face stressful situations in life, God’s promise is to lead us safely through each one, as a shepherd would do for his sheep.

Are you hoping that a change in circumstances will bring a change in your attitude?

If so, you are in prison, and you need to learn a secret of traveling light.

Hebrews 12:1-2
The Voice

12 So since we stand surrounded by all those who have gone before, an enormous cloud of witnesses, let us drop every extra weight, every sin that clings to us and slackens our pace, and let us run with endurance the long race set before us.

[We may feel alone, but we aren’t. We are surrounded by an army of witnesses. They have run the race of faith and finished well. It is now our turn.]

2 Now stay focused on Jesus, who designed and perfected our faith. He endured the cross and ignored the shame of that death because He focused on the joy that was set before Him; and now He is seated beside God on the throne, a place of honor.

Whatever is attacking you whether it be disease or negative circumstances of life, whatever it is God is greater than anything that comes against you.

Like what happened with the father with the demonized, epileptic son, after seeking every avenue to get help for his son, and then even Jesus’ disciples had failed to help.

In desperation he asked Jesus, “if you can do anything please help my son.”

And Jesus told him, “no you have it all wrong, it’s not whether I can help it’s whether you can believe, because all things become possible when you believe!”

Max Lucado has some wise words on this subject…

May I meddle for a moment?

What is the one thing separating you from joy?

How do you fill in this blank: “I will be happy when ________________”?

When I am healed. When I am promoted. When I am married. When I am single. When I am rich. How would you finish that statement?

Now, with your answer firmly in mind, answer this.

If your ship never comes in, if your dream never comes true, if the situation never changes, could you be happy?

If not, then you are sleeping in the cold cell of discontent.

You are in prison. And you need to know what you have in your Shepherd.

You have a God who hears you, the power of love behind you, the Holy Spirit within you, and all of heaven ahead of you.

If you have the Shepherd, you have grace for every sin, direction for every turn, a candle for every corner, and an anchor for every storm.

You have everything you need. And who can take it from you?

Can leukemia (or multiple sclerosis) infect your salvation?

Can bankruptcy impoverish your prayers?

A tornado might take your earthly house, but will it touch your heavenly home?

Our altitude is dependent upon our attitude, and at times like this we need to change our attitude, and recognize who we are in Christ.

Try saying it slowly, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need” [Psalm 23:1].

Again, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need.”

Again, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need.”

Shhhhhhh. Did you hear something? I think I did. I’m not sure . . . but I think I heard the opening of a jail door.

I want to say it again that God Is bigger than anything you face, and
whatever sin or disease is weighing you down, all you have to do is lay it at the foot of the cross!

Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers everyday and that I’m fighting this battle right along your side; and I’m here always to remind you that most importantly God is also with you and is by your side!

And as Peter says, ‘By the stripes of Jesus you are already healed (1 Peter 2:24)

SELAH (let us pause and calmly think about these things)
