Revisiting Immigration Reform…from 1907 With all the massive immigration rallies we are seeing these days, all across the country; isn’t it interesting to note this is not a new topic? Below is a speech given by President Theodore Roosevelt, back in 1907, on this very same subject. I particularly want to bring your attention to the part of the speech where he says: “… We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” Theodore Roosevelt 1907 ____________________________________________________ As Americans, we are not at all against immigrants entering our country legally! There are many voices out in the media and among our politicians today, who are blurring this line between legal and illegal immigration… and it should not be! Nobody is protesting the thousands of legal immigrants who are living here in America; because truly that is what our country was and is founded upon. What we do protest, and protest strongly, I might add, are all the many (estimated to be over 20 million) illegal immigrants, who are today wanting to gain citizenship in our country, who have no intentions of assimilating themselves into the American society; and who have no loyalty towards the American people, nor to our flag! All in all, I think President Theodore Roosevelt said it pretty good. As far as I can see it, to the extent we have people in Washington DC today, in positions of power, even in the White House, who can’t see this difference, and who are constantly making decisions that run against the will of the American people, on this and many other subjects, all of which run against the grain of our U.S. Constitution; then I think it is well past time for us to replace these people, with men and women who at least have common sense, and who don’t have hidden political agendas… such as the present lot has, who are wanting to see us absorbed into this so called “New World Order!” That’s my opinion, anyhow… what’s yours? I think this is one email that needs to be forwarded until every This speech was given in the year 1907, which is one hundred and 3+ years ago… and the message is just as relevant today, as it was then!

I agree. All immigrants to this country should have the desire to assimilate, learn the language, and adopt the new country’s positive cultural aspects into their lives. They should not expect for this country to learn their language and have programs and services in their language without making any effort whatsoever to learn English and the American culture. As an American born and raised in this country to an immigrant mother, I have seen the effort on her behalf to learn the language, even educate herself in an American university, and embrace the American way of life overall. My mother is very proud to be an American citizen, and frankly, I do not understand why people who immigrate to this country to earn a living and take advantage of its resources and services would not want to embrace the country where they have chosen to live and have been given the opportunity to succeed and prosper.
Well said, Teddy; and I agree.
I would even go on to say that the richness of our country is the same as in the church; but it can only happen as we achieve true diversity in oneness!
How boring this world would be if everyone was exactly the same, cookie cutter images of one another.
I absolutely love all the many and varied cultures and ethnicities that we have, in both… the church and in our country.
God’s problem all along has been to get us, as members of His church, to be one, and to operate as one… even as Jesus said, “That the world may know that the Father has sent Him.”
There are no disposable people in God’s economy, for every single individual has a purpose and a destiny to fulfill.
Our part is first to be born-again, from above; to then submit to God’s will and die to self; to learn obedience, and being sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, in order that God’s will may be done in the earth, as it is in heaven.
By the way, I think your mom is one very cool lady; I am always blessed to be around her; and she is very anointed too!!!
Bless you.
